Phare Circus in Siem Reap Overview

It is more than just a circus as Phare Circus performers use theater, music, dance and modern circus art to tell their Cambodian stories.

A sudden downpour, an unexpected power outage, a hectic boat trip and a relaxing dinner all provide the backdrops for funny encounters and opposing perspectives. But in every situation, you can feel the understanding and strong connection between the gentle Cambodians.

You will be astonished by the talents of these brilliant young performers with their energy, emotion, and talent. The show is very engaging even though performed in Khmer with English Subtitles on a screen. The story is easy to follow without words.

Besides, Phare Circus is a project of the non-profit organization –Phare Ponleu Selpak founded by eight young Cambodia ex-refugees of the Khmer Rouge regime, committed to reviving the Cambodian arts and support the local community. They will spend 75% of the revenue supports the free education and social support programs of Phare Ponleu Selpak non-profit school. It’s a meaningful way to enjoy yourself while helping support the local.

The show is performed every night from 8:00pm.

• For pre-show refreshments or some shop browsing, the Phare Café and Phare Boutique, which sells original paintings, drawings and music CDs from PPSA and local products made by Cambodian NGOs.open at 6:30pm
• There is a strict rule that is not allowed to enter 5 minutes after the scheduled start time. So please make sure to arrive on time.
• The ticket is free for children at the ages of 0-4

It’s a modern take of a traditional storyline and the incredible skills shown by acts of the circus is mind blowing. I was thoroughly entertained by the performers which includes a series of stunts, comedy, dancing and music. Apart from the entertainment, Phare is also a social enterprise that provides training and jobs – so know that your visit here helps lift countless Cambodian families out of poverty. Definitely a recommended 10/10 experience.

 

The Phare Circus is really one of the show that must see in Siem Reap. Its really really nice and worthwhile the pay. Me and my family enjoy it from the start. Its amazing to see how the artist perform in a small stage show and the energy level can see throughout the act. Its mixed with some story which have a translation where we can read from screen panel.
